Where we live in the Pacific Northwest there are a lot of old Cedar trees.Trees that have seen generations come and go, that have survived fire and drought, and a rapidly changing world, all the while quietly growing and making the surrounding areas more habitable, more inviting and oh so sweet to wander through. I gathered fallen cedar from these woods last winter for use in our soap. I dried, screened and crushed the leaves, amazed at the silky powder that resulted. I discovered that in addition to being lovely and smelling wonderful, Cedar’s cleansing properties are both antiseptic and astringent, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal. It can help soothe and relieve Seborrhea and Eczema. A true natural wonder.
Nettle is another common, wild growing green that has been gathered and used for centuries, in clothing and basketry, tinctures and Tea. Because of it’s healing properties it is sometimes used to treat burns and other irritations. Low growing and seasonal, it is a perfect complement to Cedar.
Romany Gypsies believe that Nettle grows over the underground passages of Faeries.
A little magic – just for you!
